How should I dress when I attend church?
We want you to be comfortable as you join us for Sunday School and Morning Worship. From suits and dresses to jeans and skirts, you will see our members in a variety of clothing. Generally, our members clothing would be considered business casual with a few in a little more formal attire.
Am I required to give an offering when I attend church?
No. When we take an offering, it is done for the convenience of our church members to give their offering to the Lord. Everyone is free to give to the Lord as he purposes in his heart, but there is no obligation for any visitor to give unless they feel led to do so.
How do I become a member?
The place for you to begin is to visit Bethlehem and get to know the people and the pastor. If you are interested in becoming a member you will meet with the pastor to discuss your interest in the church. We require all those interested to attend a “new members” class where you will find out more about what we believe and how we operate as a church. We believe that church membership is reserved for those who have come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and have been baptized by immersion. If you have not been baptized by immersion a baptism will be scheduled.
How do I enroll my child in Bethlehem Christian Academy?
You can call the school to arrange a tour and get to know the administrator and staff, or you can download the application from the web site and view the other information and begin the paper work. You will be required to send in your child’s academic history and a reference form from your pastor. You will be required to interview with our administrator and your child will be required to take a pre-admission test. Once all this is completed you will then be considered for admission to Bethlehem Christian Academy.
Is Bethlehem part of any church conference?
Bethlehem Baptist Church is an autonomous church which fellowships with and is a member of the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches and the Ohio Association of Regular Baptist Churches. These associations are for fellowship only, and Bethlehem in and of itself is independent.
Will I be made to stand up, introduce myself, or be singled out when I visit?
No. We respect your privacy and your desire to worship with us at your own comfort level. We'll never call on you from the pews or ask you to introduce yourself. You may be warmly greeted before or after the service by any of the members and you will probably be given a visitor packet which will contain a visitor card that you may elect to fill out so that we may keep a record of your visit with us. These cards may be placed in our offering bags, or given to any usher or the pastor upon leaving the service.
Can my children come with me to worship?
Yes! Whether you choose to have your child attend Junior Church or be cared for in our staffed child care area, or bring them to worship with you, any option is fine. All children of school age begin in the worship service and then are dismissed to junior church just before the sermon.
Do you celebrate communion?
Yes - we celebrate the Lord’s Table during our morning service the first Sunday of the Month.
May I participate in Communion if I am not a member - or even a Baptist?
At Bethlehem we celebrate open communion. Meaning that everyone who knows the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior and understands that there is no saving merit in taking the elements may participate.
What do I need to do to be baptized?
