SPECIALS AND EXTRA PROGRAMS
LUNCH PROGRAM
|
A Hot Lunch Program is available to all of our students at a nominal cost.
We offer four weeks of rotating menus featuring entrees such as Fried Chicken
& Wild Rice, Beefy Nachos, Pasta & Meat Sauce, Sloppy Joe & Chips, and everyone's
favorite … Pizza! Each menu selection includes a fruit or vegetable and milk or a juice drink.
Extras such as chips, drinks, cookies & ice cream are also offered, and may be
purchased on a day-to-day basis.
Our lunch program is made possible only through the efforts of parent volunteers
who come in to cook and serve the lunches. (back to top)
GYM PROGRAM
|
Physical Education is a regular part of the curriculum of Bethlehem Christian Academy.
Teamwork, sportsmanship, and a variety of sports and games are combined with calisthenics
to give our students a well-rounded and fun-filled time of physical activity. Our full-size Gymnasium gives us access
to one of the finest facilities around. BCA also paticipates in a mini school league where boys and girls grades
4-6 compete with our sister Christian schools. Our Middles school students compete with Christian and public schools. Fall sports include boys soccer, girls volleyball, and winter sports
include boys and girls basketball. (back to top)
ART PROGRAM

Our Art program is designed to give our students a greater understanding of
the arts through an appreciation for the creativity of God as Master Creator.
Many media are used for the students to express their creativity. Our art program
is designed to celebrate God as the Master Artist and to give our students an
opportunity to experience a wide range of art media. Students are encouraged
to explore their own creativity while learning various art techniques.
The basic elements of art (line, color, texture, shape, form, space, and value),
combined with an emphasis on color theory, is foundational to our approach.
Students have the opportunity to participate in local and regional art shows and competitions. (back to top)
SPANISH PROGRAM

Our Spanish program is designed to give our students in grades K4 - 8 a general understanding of the Spanish language.
Weekly classes for the younger students feature music and games as way of becoming familiar with common words and phrases.
As the students advance they learn language structure, translation & conversational language skills.

LIBRARY PROGRAM
|
All BCA students have a weekly Library class where a love of books and
reading is fostered. Our librarian reads to the students and assists
them in choosing books for leisure reading or in the locating of reference books.

COMPUTER PROGRAM
|
The BCA Computer Lab features a number of IBM compatible, CD-ROM, multi-media computers
for use by our students and teachers. Students have access to a library of computer
software that will enhance their education in reading, mathematics, science and word
processing through the use of games and reference materials. (back to top)
MUSIC PROGRAM
|
Music Theory classes for all grades provide a fun-filled and varied program of music appreciation.
Time is spent in preparing for our all-school Christmas program which is a highlight of the school year.
This program is an energetic musical complete with parts for actors. (back to top)
BAND PROGRAM
|
An instrumental band program is offered to our students in grades four through eight. Students may
receive lessons on the band instrument of their choice.
A nominal yearly fee is charged for the lessons in addition to the
rental or purchase of an instrument. Students participate in music
festivals and competitions. (back to top)
SPECIAL MUSIC GROUP
SOUNDS OF HONOR
Sounds of Honor is a vocal choir for those students in grades three
through eight with a greater interest in music performance.
Try-outs are held at the beginning of the school year where
students are judged on their ability to match pitch and stay on tune
when a harmony is also sung. Sounds of Honor is used in area churches
for school promotion, they sing in area malls at Christmastime and
represent our school in music competitions. Sounds of Honor has also
had the privilege of singing our National Anthem at Cleveland Lumberjacks hockey games!
